Website, SEO, e-commerce & CRM terms – in plain English
28 terms business owners hear from agencies, explained without jargon.
- CTA (call to action)
- A button or line that tells the visitor what to do next – "Book Free Demo", "Chat on WhatsApp". Every section of a YoGi website ends with one.
- Conversion rate
- The share of visitors who become enquiries or orders. A sales-focused website is designed to raise this number, not just traffic.
- Landing page
- A single-goal page for one offer or ad campaign. It removes distractions so more clicks turn into enquiries.
- Lead
- A potential customer who has shared their name and number – through a form, WhatsApp or a call.
- SEO (search engine optimisation)
- Work that helps your pages appear on Google for the words your buyers search – titles, descriptions, content, speed and structure.
- Meta title & description
- The blue headline and grey text Google shows for your page. Written well, they decide whether people click.
- Canonical URL
- A tag that tells Google which address is the official one for a page, so duplicates (www, old links) don't compete with each other.
- Sitemap
- A file listing every page of your website so Google can find and index them quickly.
- Schema / structured data
- Hidden code that describes your business, services and FAQs to Google, which can show them as rich results.
- Core Web Vitals
- Google's speed and stability scores. Faster pages rank better and lose fewer visitors.
- Alt text
- A short description of an image for Google and screen readers – it also helps images appear in Google Images.
- 301 redirect
- A permanent forward from an old page address to a new one, so links and Google rankings are not lost.
- SSL / HTTPS
- The padlock in the browser. It encrypts data and is expected by buyers and Google.
- Hosting
- The server space where your website lives. We host client sites in the client's own name.
- Domain
- Your website address, like yogiwebsites.com. It should be registered in your name and renewed on time.
- Headless WordPress
- WordPress used only as a back office to add content, while a fast Next.js website shows it to visitors – the setup behind our premium builds.
- Next.js

- Multi-language site (hreflang)
- Separate language versions of your pages, linked so Google shows each visitor the right language.
